Focus on Relevant Apps Development – Dorothy Gordon

The Director-General of Ghana’s Advanced Information Technology Institute, the Ghana-India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT (AITI-KACE), Ms. Dorothy Gordon, has admonished Application developers in Ghana to focus on developing Apps that are relevant to the local industry. The ever technology-passionate DG, said this at the finals of the MTN Apps Challenge at the plush Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra.

She noted that there are billions of US Dollars of businesses in the mobile industry and that, it is important for local developers to work hard to come up with great applications to support businesses, government and social services.

She also encouraged government to provide and help grow ICT companies which will go a long way to provide youth employment and help Ghana to take its rightful share in the billion dollar industry.

She admonished the telecommunication companies in Ghana to do lots of new thinking to enable them benefit from the apps market.

She used the opportunity to encourage the winners of the challenge to be hard working and committed to developing applications that can compete in the global market. She used the opportunity to announce the World Summit Mobile Awards which is to be held in Abu Dhabi.
