MTN Fetes with Children of Village of Hope Orphanage and Babies Born on Christmas Day

MTN, the leader in Ghana’s telecommunications industry, through the MTN Ghana Foundation celebrated the Christmas festivities with children of Village Of Hope orphanage and babies born on Christmas day at the Korle-bu, Efia Nkwanta, Komfo Anokye and Tamale Teaching hospitals.

The orphans at the Village Of Hope located in Gomoah-Feteh in the Central Region were treated to a Christmas party organised in partnership with Reachout and Share Foundation to create an opportunity for the children to share in the season of Christmas.

As part of the activities, an eye screening exercise was organised for the children and other members of the Gomoa-Fetteh Community in the Central Region. A total of 300 persons were screened and given treatment with spectacles distributed to those with a need for it.

Babies born on Christmas day were not left out of the festivities as they were celebrated by MTN Ghana Foundation together with Staff volunteers of MTN. A total of One Hundred and eighty (180) hampers were presented to mothers of babies that were born on Christmas day. Items in the MTN Christmas Baby Hampers included assorted baby diapers, baby wipes, baby products, baby clothing, baby toiletries and toys among others.

In a statement, the Ag Corporate Services Executive of MTN, Mr Robert Kuzoe said, “Christmas is a season of sharing and it is more important to give back to the needy in society and most especially babies born on this special day”. It is the this reason that the MTN Foundation has remained committed to celebrating this special season with children from deprived communities and especially babies born on Christmas day”.

The receiving communities of MTN’s gesture expressed their appreciation to the Foundation for making them experience Christmas in an enjoyable way.

MTN Ghana Foundation is devoted to supporting the maternal health system in the country. Over the past six years of its existence, thousands of people have benefited from the assistance the Foundation has provided in the areas of health education and economic empowerment.

Last year, MTN Foundation donated 10 Incubators and 5 Ventilators to 15 selected hospitals across the country at a total cost of GH₵125,000.00. The main objective of these investments is to contribute towards the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal (MDG) of reducing child mortality and improving maternal health.
